Wayne Maureau has over twenty years experience performing and recording with top New Orleans artists in all genres of music. He has also performed with international artists and at festivals and music venues around the world. Best known for his versatility he captures the essence and feel of any style of music from Jazz and Latin to Funk and Blues. Wayne is currently a member of New Orleans legendary R&B, Blues and Funk band Walter “Wolfman” Washington & the Roadmasters. They perform weekly in the crescent city and are frequently on tour in the states and abroad. In 2013 they received the Big Easy award for best R&B band in New Orleans. The Funk/Fusion trio “Trifuncta” was founded by Wayne and keyboardist Mike Lemmler (George Porter Jr.) in 2006 and in 2008 a CD of original compositions was released. As a freelance sideman Wayne maintains a busy schedule often performing with Mia Borders, Marc Stone, Seth Walker, Organica, The John Mahoney Big Band, Joe Krown, The Jimmy Carpenter Band, Chegadao, Vivaz Latin Band and many other top artists in the city. In 2002 Wayne released his Latin Jazz CD featuring his original compositions and unique arrangements. Wayne serves as adjunct faculty percussion instructor at Loyola University and Delgado Community College. He is a member of the Loyola University Faculty Jazz Septet and instructs the Loyola Afro-Cuban Percussion Ensemble. He has given clinics and master classes throughout the Southeastern United States and published The Multi-Stylist drummer, a method book detailing his approach to the drums. Wayne currently holds endorsements with Bosphorus Cymbals, Aquarian Drumheads and Fortune Drums.
